Recently I have been told many times that music does not bring in the Kingdom of God and only words can do that?

I am very disappointed in this statement and wonder whether this really is a thought of the few or of the masses?

Why do they say this?  What do they mean?

Wasn't Satan himself the music leader in charge of the worshipping in the Heavens before his fall?
King David was always playing hrp to the Lord. And there are many verses stating to make music to the Lord, sing a new song to the Lord. There are a lot of scriptures about music and how the Lord loves it!
Be blessed!

Oh love!
Don't let them; flying over your head yes, but not  nesting on your head.... aaaaaah rubbish?
Please do forgive these.

The Lord uses music, the Lord can use anything my sister!
He uses music to reconcile nations and uses the Internet these days too.
And he reaches multitudes through music. He loves music, he loves melodies especially those done to him with a pure, reverent heart.
Play on my sister! Worship your Maker with all those who have breath, yes, play on!
Ex.151-21,  Psl1-150, Lk.1:46-55, Eph. 5:18-20,Rev.4:8-11,5:9-14,15:3-4.
Play it, sing it, paint it, dance it, hum and whistle it love! And what have you!

Much love!

Many of the old hymns (even gospel songs) preach the word.  Read some of them.  They tell the story of unseen things above, of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love.

Low in the grave He lay,
Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
      He arose! He arose!
      Hallelujah! Christ arose!

That's a mini sermon right there.

Did you say 'DUH' when you were told that. Should have you know after all music is words sung instead of spoken. Hmmm maybe it's cause you use different muscles in the throat, to sing than you do to speak.

In the end not even words manifest the kingdom, it comes as a manifestation of power and authority.

I know when I was in bible college and we went to chapel we blokes had to wear ties. I was convinced that it was to hide the Adam's apple, which was a reminder of sin. Oh dear some people are clowns and some people are just plain downright
ignorant.

Oh well as they say it takes all kinds to make the world go road. No wonder someone wrote, "stop the world I want to get off." LOL Grin Roll Eyes

Just my humble opinion.

I am with you all.  I have had a music ministry for many years and suspect that some people just don't have a clue.  I'm just tired of being told to get a proper job!!

Another battle I see!

Blessings all

Dear Sister Viola;

Do not let the ignorance of a few--or many--keep you from performing the calling that is on your life!  Surely Mary and Joan of Arc must have felt "different," and certainly they probably felt discouraged as they walked in what God called them to do!

Are there not words in some of our Christian music?  Some hymns are still better than any sermon!

Everything we do is a praise unto God.  It is when we do not do those things we are called to do--that we sin against the One Who loves us most!

Sister Viola, you know you were created to perform music--just do it with praise, honor and glory unto the Only One Who matters!

And forget the naysayers!

You bring happiness to HIS heart by being you, by expressing an aspect of God, as only you can!

Be happy, be alive in His Spirit!

LadyDee

The lord does use music. He used it to get me saved and into the Word. I am a musician and I have to say, if it weren't for gosple music, I probably wouldn't have used my talent for the Kingdom of God. Look at Fing David. He played the harp. He too was a musician. True, the words mean everything and they have spirit, but music adds to those words because music too has spirit. Do remember that it is important to gaurd your ears from what you listen to. I am speaking about a lot of the worldly music that is popular. If you listen to angry or depressing music, then you will eventually become angry or depressed. That is negative spirit that is being planted into your soul. It is very dangerous for the new believer. Hear are some groups that I now listen to. Hillsongs is very popular within the Christian community. I personally am really into Isreal and New Breed, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, J Moss and the list goes on. These are just some of the faith and spirit filled music that I listen to. Make sure when trying out  Christian music that the lyrics does not speak anything that is contrary to the Word. Cool? I hope that helps.

Sis who would want a job [Just On Broke] we were not designed to have a job, we were designed and equipped to have a ministry. I tell people all the time to quit the job and get into your ministry. For too long we have viewed ministry as something you do in church, a job is something you do outside.

Not true at all. Now for some people what they are doing as a job they may need to see it in the proper light of being a ministry. Its a mind shift. Whats the difference, if you are doing what you enjoy and God has placed you there, its a ministry.

The only platform we have to pray from is 'the ministry God has called us to'. When we operate from that platform the prayers get answered a lot easier.

Keep doing what you do.
