True story. . . A few years ago I was on a plane traveling from Chicago to San Diego, and my seat was next to an elderly couple. The woman was leaning in her seat toward her husband and holding the man's arm. They were talking and laughing almost the entire flight. Toward the end of the flight, I asked the couple how long they had been married and the woman smiled and stated they had been married for 80 years! They could see the look on my face and probably knew the next question was coming, but I still had to ask, "What's your secret to staying happily married?" The elderly man smirked and replied, "I say 'yes' alot. " They both started laughing and so did I. I'm sure she heard that joke a hundred times, but there we were. . . all three of us laughing at a silly joke. I learned a few important things from that couple. Appreciation of one another and humor needs to be an important part in any relationship. I have an appreciation for everything in my life. Every day I'm thankful for always having enough to eat, a roof over my head, a great career, the ability to stay active, awesome friends, a loving family and more. I'm a believer we need to choose our attitude, goals need to be set, and life needs to be lived. Wow, I just read that again and that sounds pretty darn serious!! There is lighter side to me that is sometimes silly, witty and goofy. If you looked at my photos you probably guessed I'm a little goofy, since I'm standing next to the Pittsburgh Pirate mascot giving the thumbs up! By the way, I'm the one on the left!
