Short Answers Describe the type of relationship you are looking for. What qualities would you like in this relationship or person? I have thought a lot about this lately. My sis is married and pregnant and so happy. I would like a relationship where the other person in 100% invested in loving unselfishly. The Bible often refers to this as subsission. I think that word has been mutilated and hacked to death. I want to be able to be invested 100% in that other person, and together we seek to honour God in everything we do. Submitting to each other KNOWing that the other has your needs ahead of their own. I have seen marriages where this has been out of balance and the couple strives to meet one parteners unending needs, it is always a failure to both and also to God. I have read many times in these profiles of men wanting some woman to put him second to God. I do not want to divide up my love. I honestly believe that when you have one child then another you do not have only 50% for each child now. Your love grows so that each child gets maybe not all your time, but all your love. I believe that yes, one can put a thousand to flight and two ten thousand. WOW, to me that means that we can put 100% into this relationship and give 10 times more to God together. . . . I hope that makes some sense.
Describe a little of your personality and character traits. (Are you funny, laid back, more serious, open, shy, etc. ?) I said in the other part of the profile that I am intense. That is true, yet only in part. I think I am a strange medely of intensity in my love of people, yet with a laid back flair. I guess like many women, I am a mixture of many contrasting things that blend together just like God made me. I think He likes the diversity! (grin) I am communicative, yet enjoy quiet times. I find that being with, and investing in the lives of family and friends to be a huge part of my life.
Describe your Christian faith. Where are you at and what are your goals? What Scripture verses are important to you? I have been a Christian for most of my life, I have had many mountian top experiences, and even more valley times. Looking back, with the knowledge that I survived, I think the sweeter of the two is the valleys. I learned that God is not some 'sugar daddy in the sky', & at the same time He is not the old guy with the big stick, waiting for you to mess up. He is more complex than many of us would care to admit, I know the Bible says His ways are higher, and I think it is presumtuous to think we can even have a grasp of Him. I guess that is where the faith comes in, when things don't make sense, I am just glad that He is God and I don't even need to loose sleep trying to understand. I try not no 'be religious'. Even Satan himself can quote a verse or two and he proved that. I want to be able know really walk what I say I believe. My absolute favorite set of verses is Hosea 2:14-23.
What would be the perfect setting for a first meeting with a new friend or date? Describe it :-) If it was perfect, it would not be interesting. . . . . Definitly at Whit's end, Odyssey eating a wod fam choc sod. . . . if you know what that is, wow I am impressed!
What are your favorite activities? (Including sports, leisure, artistic/musical, etc. ) I have not had the opportunities, or have not created them now in adulthood, to take up many sports or other things. I turned 30 two years ago now and my Aunt said something about it all being downhill from here on, so I have made a point of experiencing more things, I took up tennis (Not good yet though) and guitar. I would love to learn to ice skate and play pool and other things. I am now having to make an effort to include these new experiences in my life. I have been very involved in mercy ministries, my sister and I led worship (well actually we sang while everyone sat in a drunken stupor, or was to high to know where they were) at a local mission. I loved it!! We know some of the strangest looking people by name, in fact there was one time we were singing this song by Tim Hughes, called 'Here I am to worship' and it talks about 'here' and it was amazing while we were there that it is not about how perfect the building is that we worship in, or the people we worship with, it is just here, anywhere, wherever here is, wherever we are.
I love Christian music and right now Bebo Norman is my favorite, along with Casting Crowns and of course anything by Graham Ord. As for reading, it is a particular passion, my all time favorite author is Randy Alcorn head of Eternal Perspectives Ministries, he has written many books and I found his stuff life and perspective changing.
Do you like what you do? What is your dream job? I have been running a group home for the past year. It is with children ages 6-12 who have behaviour problems. My dream job seems to be changing all the time, every job I have had was my dream job while I was there. . . . . I am content where I have been placed. I would not say that I am experiencing all that God has for me because He has absolutly floored me on every turn. He has given me the grace to be passionate for evey place He has taken me. . .
What are some of your personal goals in life? Some of my personal goals are to use this life to invest in eternity. As a young woman if anyone would have asked what I wanted from life I would have been quick to reply, A husband and children of all ages gathered around the table. I wanted to adopt kids that are "too old" for the average family and have the kind of marriage where my husband could call home on his way home from work having met a family who he met and was bringing home for dinner. My home would be one of laughter and fun and love for all those who walked through my door. I read this book of Randy Alcorn's (Deadline) and it begun to change my perspective. I realized that what I was seeing in my minds eye was heaven. The children of all ages and nationalities may not be 'mine' here on earth but they may be the ones I have had the honour to parent along the way. The realease of this dream and vision for my life was mind numbing. I finally realized that I did not have to make it happen, that I was called to walk in the NOW not in the future. I realized that investing in eternity was where my heart was leading me and I just got that confused for now.
Where were you born? Have you ever traveled? If so, where? What is your ideal adventure? I was born here in Canada and grew up on the mission field in Mexico. I was born in Penticton BC where my parents now pastor a church. I am the eldest of 4 siblings. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Well there my friend if you are looking for a woman who is into herself, as I have now read in many profiles, may you be blessed in your search, but keep on looking because that is not me. If you are looking for a partner in the battle of life, if you are a fierce soldier in God's army. If you are a man who is willing to serve others and put their best interests first, if you are a man who loves Jesus and feeds his sheep, and his lambs, I would love to talk! Take care and Be Blessed. . . actually you probably already are. . . . . grin
