I am an active Born-Again/Evangelical Christian, college teacher, tennis player (and sailor, skier, cyclist, exercise-nut) , and an honest, generous, hard-working, friendly, and funny person. I have never married. I believe God provided this singleness for me in the years before I became a Christian in 1987. Since that time, I'm not so sure why I have not found "Mr. Right. "
I am close to my sisters, brothers & their families. I've brought nephews & nieces out to visit me -- playing tennis, sailing, fishing, (shopping for the girls) & various other sports, and just enjoying each other's company. My students at Knox College are also a substitute for my own kids. I greatly enjoy IVCF (Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. ) As faculty adviser I like to attend their meetings. I am in the midst of my 08/09 sabbatical & I have several research projects I am working on. One is "The Evangelical Voter and the Culture War. " I've also been cleaning my yard and office (which is periodically chaotic) , and I'm reading some journals on foreign policy (my teaching field) .
I had a "born-again" experience in 1987 at a Cursillo retreat sponsored by the Catholic Church (I was once a member; I'm now an evangelical protestant. ) On the retreat, Jesus reached out and touched me when I didn't even know I was looking for him. It was like a building fell on me. I'll share more; but it changed my life forever -- and my mission at Knox College.
