What to say about me? The three most important things in my life are God, family and my ethics.
My God is what I cling to for everything. However, I do act the idiot much of the time and end up doing stupid things. I try to follow the Bible as the standard of my life, especially when it comes to respect and love- I try to follow Jesus' path. My family is the next thing in my life. I live with my mother & sister. Please don't take that as some kind of creepy sheltered boy syndrome. Our family is built on trust and respect. We all have the freedom to do what we want in our house. I love the house (as well as the city) I was raised in and, to be honest, never want to leave. I hope to buy the house someday and plan on living here in the city. I help support my mother since she raised me right and supported me- you must always pay back what you can, no? I believe in honesty, and felt it was necessary to be upfront about this subject. If this situation scares you away, good luck to you. :) I hope to meet someone who is comfortable with the concept of family, respect, and honesty.
My ethics- for lack of a better term (maybe my philosophy would be more apt) is just as important as my family. As previously mentioned, I try to live my life walking like Jesus. I respect everyone. People in our age seem to have this notion that "Respect is earned. " I believe this is simply untrue. Respect is given no matter what! This doesn't mean you have to like the person, or want to be their friend, but you need to respect everyone. This includes society's forgotten- the homeless, the addicted, etc. What people really are referring to when they speak about respect is the notion of honor. Honor is another concept forgotten in our time. Everyone should receive respect, but not everyone earns honor. You must act honorable in your life. Many people live without a code of honor, though some do. Following God's will is definitely a code of honor, and you will receive my honor for sticking to that. My personal code of honor is not only trying to follow the Bible to the best of my ability, but also helping people. It's why I want to be a Paramedic- to make a difference in people's lives. So what else can I say about me? I grew up in the Northside of Minneapolis. I was the minority growing up. I am so grateful for the cultural experiences I received being raised here. Though it had it's tough times, my upbringing made me strong in my beliefs and my sense-of-self. I saw first-hand many of the disadvantages people of color have in our society. Many of it involves the repercussions of property ownership and distribution, as well as the low-paying jobs that minorities were (and sill are) given which disrupts the family culture creating a cycle of dysfunction.
Other than that, I am a huge child. I love cartoons, Science Fiction, movies, Mixed Martial Arts and video games (probably more than I should) . I am a notorious freak about Christmas- can never get enough of it. I love winter and snow- but by the fifth month; I am ready for green again. I enjoy cooking- it's an art that can be appreciated by all the senses. Being that I love where I live and my house, I find much enjoyment out of sitting around the fireplace and just enjoying the company of a close friend. However, I do like to see movies, play billiards- though I am admittedly bad at it, go out on walks/bike rides, and going out to eat is one of my most favorite things to do.
Basically, I like going out, but not to "artificial" places like bars and clubs where people place their importance on the facade being someone special/hip/whatever. I'd rather get to know the REAL you! Flaws make you unique! My fingers hurt from typing, so I am going stop before I fall into the fetal position and cry. If I haven't frightened you and you share many of the same ideals, please send an email so I can at least pick your brain for some good conversation. :)
