My Testimony of His Grace
Where did all the cows go? I guess you could say that I am a southern boy that moved to the big city. I grew up in Alabama, hoping to graduate college with a degree in Radiology from the University of South Alabama. Just as I was trying to pursue my own plans in life, something happened that changed my life forever. When I was 21 years old, in 1997, my life was focused on a beautiful young lady. For about a year my life seemed as if it could not be any better. I had a small amount of excess income, nice cars, and I had no major responsibilities. I did not drink, smoke, or have premarital sex. Everything was perfect. Or was it? Everything in my life centered around my college girlfriend until her Mr. Right came along. I was crushed! Every bit of my joy was sucked out of me as I sat and listened to her explain that I was not the one for her. The void in my life could have swallowed all the oceans of the world! I felt that the only thing for me to do, was to go and get another girlfriend! As I sat at the boat harbor on my lunch break one afternoon, reading "The Pursuit of Holiness, " by Jerry Bridges, God opened my heart to the understanding that what I needed to fill that void in my life was not another girlfriend, but instead I needed Jesus Christ! A couple of weeks later, I heard the gospel message. God had opened my heart to the knowledge that I was not saved by my works. By avoiding drinking, sex, and drugs, although those were wise decisions, he allowed me to understand that those decisions did not do anything for my salvation! That night, the Lord showed me that I could only be saved through the blood of Jesus Christ! The Lord gave me faith to believe in Him, to repent of my sins, and to ask Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior. I have been a believer for about 11 years now and I just graduated from the Master's Seminary. Seminary is a whole different ball game than Radiology. . . now, instead of seeing people through the lens of photographic X-ray machines, I see them through the lens of God's word as I serve as a member of the body of Christ. Having Christ as the center of my life has been incredible. One of the joys of being a believer is that He has given me the ability to enjoy life. I enjoy talking a lot and if I had to guess, that is one thing that stands out about me. I enjoy making (or trying) to make people laugh. I think a sense of humor is a wonderful quality in people and also for a couple to share together. A sense of humor can be such a blessing during difficult times. I enjoy, when I am in a conversation with someone, to look over and see the other person smiling. A beautiful smile means so much to me in a young lady. . . happiness is a good thing! I still look forward to having a beautiful young lady in my life, but now, instead of being in my life to serve my needs, she will be my God given help mate to better serve Him! Current Goals and Desires
My desire is to serve the Lord in ministry. I have a love for true Biblical Counseling and teaching God's word. I enjoy preaching when I have the opportunity. The first book of the Bible that I began preaching through is the book of James. That is one of the most enjoyable books of the Bible to me. I believe that of the Bible is God's word (2Tim. 3:16) and that God's word is sufficient. One of my greatest joys of being in the ministry is counseling. I believe in using God's word to counsel believers in order to help them through their Christian walk.
