
I have been bringing up my two sons on my own for over twelve years, and they have now grown to be fine, gifted young Christians and sportsmen. One is now close to graduating from university and his brother has just started his first year. I believethat it is now about time for me to look to the Lord to lead me to that special gal with whom to serve Him for, and share the rest of my life. She has to love the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul. I have got lots of love to give, so she has to love to be loved and know how to respond to love. Honesty and loyalty are paramount, as is commitment to each other as best friends in the real sense of that phrase. No games.
I accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour over 40 years ago, and it is still the best decision I have ever made. I have had the privilege of serving him amongst his people in various capacities, including youth leadership, singing and choral leadership, Sunday School teaching, administration, worship leadership, counselling, eldership and ministry of the Word. The pressures of modern society seem to have stuffed out the life in that rare kind of love and union that is sweet, passionate, 'can't-live-without-each-other', almost 'uncontrollable' and 'ridiculous', between best friends; imperfect but redeemed and acutely aware of God's grace in their daily lives, who love and serve the Lord together with all their heart and are instruments of God's blessing to those around them. I know it sounds like a pipe dream, and I'm usually called naive for thinking along these lines, but I know that such union can and does exist, albeit very rarely (sadly). But wouldn't it be lovely if . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ......
